(Super) Cloudbuilt and (New) Super Lucky's Tale are what first came to mind but those are both complicated in that they are simultaneously remakes and remasters, so I don't know if that is what you are looking for.

Not considering updated re-releases or ports with different content; the first thing that comes to mind is the first Fire Emblem game. Four years between that and Mystery of the Emblem.

Yeah FF14: ARR is basically a sequel to the original 14 (where they literally had an in-game cataclysm to justify wiping away the failure that was the original game)

FF14 2.0 was built from the ground-up and plays like an entirely different game. Very little if anything was kept from 1.0 from what I know. I don't know if I'd call it a remake, but I'd say it's more than a relaunch.

moekuri, a cute srpg on steam, is actually effectively a remake of another game called moekuri from about 3-4 years prior (it's called moekuri 2 in japan though, but it's not really a sequel since the original lacked a plot)

the eXceed series got remakes of the 2nd and 3rd games like a year after their original releases... though, they don't really count for the purposes of this since they weren't completely rebuilt from the ground up

likewise, the remade version of Gyakuten Touhou from suicayasan (titled Shin Gyakuten Touhou) was only 16 months after the original (4 after gyakuten touhou 2's release) but that again doesn't really count

there's a possibility that the Orange_Juice-produced game Scramble Eve holds the title, having had a limited release at SOME undisclosed point before the release of Xmas Shooting in 2004 (also implied to have been after the release of QP Shooting, which was just 4 months before Xmas Shooting)... But it's debatable whether that even counts either since Xmas Shooting is just an expansion for QP Shooting.

I think Ive never played a remake where I didnt like the original more. Yes I really hated the lastbit in Metroid: Zero mission.

A lot of it depends on what you call a remake. I feel like there's an entire category of remakes that people are overlooking, which is a "demake" where a game on home console got remade from the ground up as a technologically inferior game on handheld.

Off the top of my head, Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town (Apr 2003) is a full GBA remake of Harvest Moon: Back to Nature (Dec 1999) for PS1, so that's about 3 years and 4 months.

There's also stuff like Street Fighter 2, which got a version on Game Boy and Tiger Electronics a couple years later and I don't even know if it even would count as a remake.

In that case its possibly Trojan by Capcom for Famicom, which came 8 months later. Their previous Famicom ports were just the arcade game but with worse graphics, sound, and gameplay. Trojan actually introduces new features, bosses, and level designs

I guess I'm counting remake as "it's a clearly different version of the same game" rather than "yeah they technically had to remake it but it's still basically the same game" like All-Stars
