But it would be the worst financial decision since I sold my paid off 2016 mustang for the R/T lol. Ive owned it for almost a year and I really like it. But I rode in a Tesla yesterday and it was awesome

Used cars are selling for a lot right now. Might actually be a great time to upgrade.

I want a tesla now. I need to replace my car anyway but it wouldn't be wise to spend that much on a car right now

If you want an electric car, there are better options than a Tesla.

The best? A Rimac C Two, but those cost millions.

The best "normie" one is a Porsche Taycan

That porsche is twice as expensive as a model 3. What's a good EV that is comparable in price?

Oh you were talking about a model 3? People love Chevy Bolts, but for that segment of car Tesla isn't a bad option, just kind of expensive for what you actually get, especially when you start to option it out.

Tesla is superior to Chevy in every way.
Tesla will not sell you parts to repair your own car, and hold it hostage behind a five figure ransom if they find out you repaired it in any way. They're extremely anticonsumer in their stance on right to repair.

Yeah that price range is the most I'd be willing to go with a car when I'm replacing my car. Realistically I'll probably just get a couple year old used conventional gas vehicle for much cheaper

A fully optioned Model 3 will run you around 60k, you can get a hell of a ICE car for that kind of money. You will also need to install a charger at home for any real savings "fuel" wise, the cost of charging your car in public isn't as cheap as people make it out to be.

Get the Tesla. Its a better value, it just has to make the wheels spin whereas the challenger has at least 10+ operations with 10-25 moving parts that are going to fail.

I want to see if Tesla makes a < 30k hatchback that has been rumored in the next few years. I think I like the Ioniq 5, EV6, Mach-E all more than the Model Y for that class plus they are decently cheaper if you can qualify for the federal tax credit of $7500. Toyota just showed their new EV as well. Also prefer the upcoming Ford Lightning to the Cybertruck which looks too crazy for my taste.

Is it more difficult/expensive to have a Tesla worked on? I figure most mechanics could work on an American car and parts shouldnt be hard to find, but Tesla seems a bit different.

It's not. There's a whole underground repair community for Tesla products. Tesla refuses to sell consumer parts and refuse to be honest about why (control over your vehicle)

You probably won't have to have it worked on for the time you possess it. It's just a battery and an electric motor that makes the tires spin. The only other system is brake fluid, brake pads, tires, and a battery cooling system.

There's no fuel pump, spark plugs, exhaust, ignition, cylinder + cylinder block, drive shaft, transmission, or pistons involved.

It's not that combustion engines are designed to fail, it's just that they have too big of an opportunity to fail
