I spent the first few years of elementary school living in a small town just outside of Albuquerque, NM. One time in class, they had a dude come in and show us rattlesnake skins and rattlers, and familiarized us with the sound of their rattle, because they're not uncommon out there. I used to play in the mesa all the time, which was considered dangerous because you could run into rattlersnakes and scorpions, but I never saw a rattlesnake. Saw scorpions all the time though. Rattlesnakes are far more dangerous of the two though, so I'm glad I never had any run-ins.

I once almost stepped on a snake once on Vancouver island, i believe it was a venomous

If we're talking general venomous snake stories, when I was living in Sierra Leone, a snake got caught in my door frame:

After I freed it (it kept hissing and trying to bite me while I do so; I did not know it was venomous at the time), a woman walked by, saw it slithering on my porch, and said "Jesus! A snake!" And she came over with her hoe, chopped it in half, smashed it's skull, and threw its corpse in the bush. A chicken then came and toyed with its corpse for a bit before losing interest and wandering off to do more dumb chicken things.

When things are safer and this pandemic dies down, you should check out Meow Wolf in Santa Fe! Right before everything hit, I was visiting family in New Mexico and that was one of our stops, and it's really cool! It's an art installation and an immersive sci-fi story all wrapped together. A very unique experience. They're opening another, totally different, location in Las Vegas at the beginning of next year, and I just moved to Vegas, so I'm looking forward to that.

we went there right when she moved there last year! ate an edible and had a blast. that place was fucking awesome!
