No thanks. 154 would be fine but no to a significantly shorter season.

For the record, I do agree having so few teams get into the playoffs makes baseball special. But that's because it gives more weight to the insane, way-too-long 162 game season. When we're not even playing half of that, I like expanding the field and creating the possibility of the team playing the best October baseball winning the World Series, even though they were only a .500 team through 60 games.

Because 60 games is almost nothing, and there's probably a really good reason they got off to such a poor start, like having their best player on DL or lots of their hitters out of commission for two/three weeks with COVID.

I know it's lolulti but for anyone who reads his post and thinks he can possibly be correct I'm about to share some basic facts:

About 149,000 people in the US have died of covid. There are about 328.2 million people in the US.

If the disease has a 0.03% death rate and every single person in the entire country contracted the virus, then 328.2M*0.0003 = 98,460 deaths. Which is less than the 149,000 who have already died.

So obviously the math doesn't work out at all.

Eh? I havent seen any extras game go beyond what? The 11th?

The rule was made to kill the outliers. 6 Hour 18 inning games, and it is working spectacularly at that. Sure it slows down that specific inning, but at least it makes the inning more exciting. Its the slow boring games MLB is ultra nervous about.

I personally think its a bit too much and would rather have the runner start on 1st to prevent scoring on nothing but outs, but I dont hate the general idea

It's fucking despicable the way the Mets kicked Cespedes (and Sandy Alderson, and Matt Harvey, and RA Dickey, and Dan Warthen, etc etc) to the curb on their way out, but this is what they fucking do all the time. They knew ces was opting out and chose to publicly shit on him with vague statements.
