Not a whole lot, but when Im out with my boyfriend, (were both trans, but hes still fairly early on, so were usually seen as lesbians) we do get creeped on, catcalled, or approached by religious folks every so often. Weve also had a few times at thrift stores where prices were raised at the register because they were priced incorrectly I havent experienced anything too serious myself yet though.

To be fair, one of the times it was at this Christian operated place, and its just one woman who clearly hates us. (But also, they keep a rainbow flag in their window, and weve donated to them multiple times.)

Not many people know I'm a lesbian, but the people who do know are LGBT friendly and are also LGBT themselves.

Tell you something weird. The amount of gay men I know who hate trans people with a passion...I don't know what to make of that.

I'm not even talking about regular "let's talk about gender" conversations. I mean straight up slurs.

plenty from my parents, even now, 15 years after i officially came out, and 25 years after my mother should have been able to figure things out.

a little from friends, but not about me personally. comments directed at others that they didn't realize applied to me, too. The occasional casual slur. shit they should be better than, but only two have come off as truly hateful.

Ive always found it very strange too. Its absolutely a real thing though. One of my friends from High School is like that, and then I also see it often online.

Slurs, multiple times.

My ex and I got a glass bottle thrown after us while walking hand in hand down a street.

Last Summer a guy attacked my boyfriend and punched him in the back of his head. It happened right in front of me. So the guy ended up faceplanting into the ground (whoooops) and got arrested by the police.

Nothing serious. The most I've received are slurs or insults from internet forums. I have a friend who was jumped though. He's very feminine and gets shit for it sometimes.

Had dudes troll their bros by yelling at me, "my buddy wants to fuck you". Got a few f-words thrown my way. Mostly pathetic shit like that.

I voted other.

I was called gay/slurs in HS before I knew that I was gay just because I was always really quiet. I'm a massive introvert, and that's apparently a magnet to bullies.

I'm pretty closeted IRL for the most part, but my grandma in particular is very anti-gay and routinely makes demeaning comments towards gay people, as much as saying that she wants to beat Ellen DeGeneres to death. It's really bad and I try to just kind of zone out as much as I can when she gets like that, because it's painful to hear it all.

I can't say I've experienced much directed at me for my sexuality in person due to staying in the closet, but I've been around it a decent bit, at least.

No, they both the bottle throwers (two young men) and the assaulter (25-ish years old Id guess) were native Swedes. If they had immigrant descent then its Nordic based on their features.

You don't need to apologize. You are not to blame for some ignorant people's actions. But it is nice of you to post this.

In my mid twenties, I worked for a mortgage company doing loan processing. My boss(staunch jehovah witness) hired me knowing I was in college and gave me a permanent fixed schedule to accommodate my classes.

I worked like that for over a year until she found out I was gay. After that, she changed my work schedule and told me if it conflicted with my school, maybe I needed to find another job that didn't.

I started only attending classes when I could just so I could keep my job. Then once she saw I was still thriving, she started to complain about the number of loans I would process a day. This turned into daily harassment from her. I knew she was going to find some reason to fire me and sadly, Florida didn't have laws that protected gays at their jobs back then.

Luckily the whole mortgage industry collapsed and she along with myself and everyone at my job, got laid-off.
