Yeah. Not a lot of them do. I've only seen some over the course of my life. I personally have never changed the size. But I have had a couple games ask me. And I think I've seen it in the menu before...

On Switch at least, an update added a zoom function by double-tapping the Home button. Only game I was ever troubled with by undersized text was Xenoblade Chronicles X.

Really? It's pretty rare that I feel a game has text that is too small. Outer worlds would be the only one that I can actually think of that I played in recent months where I had wished for larger text.

I agree with this, tbh... I have a smaller tv than the ones mentioned in here, and can sit on the other side of the room and see fine. The room's not that big, so I'm maybe like 10 feet away of something, but still. I think the only time I've had trouble reading is when it's certain colors...

PSO2 on Xbox locks larger text sizes away unless you have the Xbox X.

I know I've had that problem before but I can't remember what game, although, when I was playing Fallout 4 the transparency of the menus was an eyesore.

You need to get one of those reclining pillow/chair thingies. A good quality one that's firm enough to support you without getting squished out of shape. The taller ones let you sit up a little more without needing to prop extra pillows behind it.

It's not on Switch. I never mentioned Switch. It's my PS4. Most recently I played Ni No Kuni 2, FFVIIR, World of Final Fantasy, Rock Band 4, Ni No Kuni remaster.. All too small for me to read from my couch.

This one recently got an update to make the words bigger, though. So, this one shouldn't be a problem anymore. I think you have to change it from the home screen, though... I'll check...

Edit: I found it, I think. It said

You can change the size of the in-game text from Title Menu > Options > Interface. This option allows you to change the size of the text in HUD and help messages. This option allows you to change the size of the text in conversations and cutscenes.

For the Outer Worlds, I do remember having to sit closer. I assume it was because of the text size, but I honestly can't remember. It might have also ben because of the mic...

Ugh, as deaf gamer, tell me about that. Needing subtitles only to find out they are freakin too small to read. Drives me crazy... Shouldn't have to wait for a patch to fix it either. Few games I've played eventually had to get a patch to add in large text option. Sadly, some games never got the patch, I wished Horizon Zero Dawn got it for sure. It's so weird...going from PS1/PS2 era where subtitles weren't always available, to PS3 era where subtitles were mostly accessible and readable to PS4 where they just shrunk in size, lol.

I think it might have to do with voice acting and graphic...possibly. For voice acting, it wasn't always in older games. So a lot of them just had subtitles only. As more games got voice acting, they needed subtitles less. Though, they didn't keep anyone with hearing disorders in mind. Also, when the graphics got better, they seems to like to make more cut scenes, and less text box reading. Which is fine, as long as you give players enough time to read, and make it visible... Personally, I haven't had many problems with reading lately, AFAIK. But it seems some people do...

Yeah, I agree. I def noticed it because I have been playing ever since SNES era. I remember the shock and disappointment going from having text in most games to almost nothing with the next gen consoles. I assumed it's because of voice acting. So glad, it's more common again though. Still wish there's more options for subtitles other than default so that I among others can read it more comfortably.

I think part of it also might be because I don't have a wireless controller for my computer. The wired one reaches but not as far as it should to make it more comfortable.

Some of the text size in Xenoblade Chronicles X is so unbelievably microscopic and sadly it's one of the reasons I haven't continued the game. I don't understand how that got past testing. There were tons of topics on the board complaining about it but of course you had the defenders chiming in with 'get (new) glasses' and 'buy a bigger TV!' like gee thanks great advice

Some certainly have issues but most don't for me and I sit far back on a 28" TV. I'd have thought a bigger screen would fit this issue completely but apparently not. Text size option shouldn't be hard to implement.

Just can't think of a good name. That's my biggest problem. I'd ask potd but they would tell me dicks and butts.

And every window will have a fullscreen button at the very top. Actual borderless full screen, and scaling options built into every app by default right in the top of the window, so users don't have to rely on the developers to implement it well.

And support for every single controller. I already have PS4 and XBox mapped to an emulated controller that the developers will use.

Huh been playing 7 remake on a 32 inch tv and ive had zero issues reading text.
