I think I'm just gonna write that off as eternally lost money for day trade playing and settle into it as a long term thing cause yeah otherwise I'm gonna sell it at -$200 and feel terrible when it eventually goes back up.

I started buying stocks for the first time in my life about 7-10 days ago. Things are going pretty okay for me so far! Don't really know anything about the stock market, just went for names/brands I recognize that seemed to be really low at the time cuz of the crash that will likely rebound with some time.

Well oil in general seems to be on a major uptick between reports of Saudi Arabia and Russia reaching a deal and that OPAC meeting.

HPR was at like double this value even post coronavirus so yeah could be any time now if it's going to happen.

At this very moment if you bought in when I first suggested you are up almost 25% on the stock lol. Kinda funny even though it hasn't blown up!

So Im still unclear. If a stocks last trade was $5, but the bid is $4.85 and the ask is $5.05 and you go to sell...what price are you getting it at?

If you buy at market you get the sell price, ask you get the bid price. Theoretically since the market moves fast anyway.

So in my example, if I bought it market what does it sell for?

buy blue chip stocks at discount prices. diversify. that's really my core philosophy - boring and basic stuff. a lot depends on your risk tolerance and how much time you can spend doing this.

I bought a pinch at 8.88, then again at 9.15 and 9.56. Sold all at 10.70. I was too late for the real gravy train but I had my fun and made about 12 bucks lol

How did people know to get into ICD, was that mentioned here and I missed it?

Assuming good oil news surfaces, hopefully it is t over the three day wait. I imagine that would take away from the spike.

oil has been getting nothing but bad news.

The announcement ended up being both sides agreeing oil is bad news.

I don't know what a blue chip stock is. I'm going to assume it's the same thing as a blue blood college football program, so it probably just means "good, reliable stock that consistently gets good recruits and wins 10 games a year."

Although I don't know which stocks count as that. I bought stuff like: GM, Ford, Marathon, Dow, General Electric, Disney, Nike, Apple, NVDA. I'm gonna assume that's what a blue chip stock is.

All of those are good. We also tend to suggest 1 airline and 1 cruiseline and something Vegas related as well but it's up to you.

Anything that's obviously going to be OK in 3-5 years and is down over 50% year to year is a good buy.

Yeah, that's what I figured. Everything I bought are regular household names that were down super low because of the crash, but will probably recover to their normal levels in a year or whatever.

I dunno, though, I'm mostly just playing around.

Oil will be fine but its not something I really recommend buy and hold on right now. Mainly because they overproduced and we're going to be in an extended period of oversupply.

It will take longer to recover than the industries actually using the oil.

Next week starts my, invest $100k in non-volatile, proven stocks one at a time and sell one hour later marathon. If I can make $100 per investment, Ill be happy. The goal is to make up the $4k I lost from YGYI. After that, I might call it quits as the market should (hopefully) be stable by then.

dont "quit" but if you dont want to active trade just stick all your hanging money in SPY, VOO or the cheaper SPLG.

I like NCL long term. Partly because my last cruise was with them and it was both relaxing and very forward-thinking for a cruise line.

And yes, having a good experience with a big company absolutely is a valid reason for investing them long term.
