With the Coronavirus decimating the stock market the last month, now is the best time to invest in stocks. I know a lot of users here are way more knowledgeable than I am when it comes to stocks, so Im making this topic to collectively pool together insight.

The consensus belief is that cruise lines and airlines are good picks because they will go up the most once they hit their rock bottom. Just gotta time when that is.

What else do you guys got?

What would be THE stock to invest in right now? MFA looked like a really good pick in the last few pages of last topic, but it's gone way up since its bottom. Seems like I should wait for it to drop way down again

Ive been researching a lot and havent found another great one since MFA. I know I mentioned NUGT and I still believe that its going to go up 100% in the span of only a few days. I just dont know when...

Regarding the merger from the last topic, the acquirer wanted to merge knowing about the severe debt the other company is in...?

Regarding ERI/CZR, I mean that if the merger goes through ERI becomes higher risk and higher reward. CZR is the opposite - if the merger goes through the shareholders get paid some amount of cash plus a small amount of ERI shares, so the risk is lower.

Any idea on when news is supposed to happen about that?

If I were an ERI shareholder - especially a long term actual investor - I would not be happy about this merger with the smoldering dungpile known as Caesars. That company was destroyed by the recession and has never managed to recover.

I can't tell if March 18th was the bottom or if this gonna turn into Great depression 2(where the dow goes to like 10k).

I'm leaning towards option 2.

possibly... I think people have gotten fooled into complacency over the past 3 years, the "you are fake news" meme. People don't trust the media anymore, or news stories... but this could be the one time where the news is doing a good job and the sky could actually be falling for real.

Their CFO died today of coronavirus. Rest In Peace. I expect their stock to go down as a result. They should be poised for a rebound sooner than later.

It was either the bottom or close. The rebounds we had tell us that people still have money to invest. We might slowcreep down to near that bottom but we aren't going to crash again unless a major earthshattering death(Trump?) due to the virus occurs.

CPRX is a pharma stock that has had decent volatility. Stock analysts say that this stock will be between 7-11 within 12 months (currently at 3.7).

NCL suspended cruises until April 11.
RCL suspended cruises until April 27.

So April 10 and April 27 might be good times to buy those stocks.

Chris, do you think these casino stocks are going to rebound as well as last time?

Long term I think they all are going to be fine, although interested to see how low ERI goes with merger news. I put a lot of money into RCL at low 30s and that may take a bit to recover but given I am messing with money I won't need any time soon it's really about margins on stuff like that.

At this point I'm probably going to invest long term in cruiselines and wait for the bottom to put the money in tbh

Agreed. This second wave of declines is not going lead to the same time of sudden spikes we saw last week/month. I agree that the cruise lines, and even airlines, are going to be clutch. Im thinking theyll hit rock bottom next week sometime, but Im sure some news will come out that will change my tune.

Im considering buying back into MFA it hits $1.45 again.

Looks like many of our stocks had a massive dip at around 935am and most have rebounded strongly (though still in the red). I guess that wouldve been the time to buy if you wanted to make a quick buck.

Right now I would definitely wait, the virus news are bound to get worse, not priced in.

How do you guys determine when to buy during the day? Do you use your gut feeling or look at predictions on how the stock is going to move?

I don't know what rebounds you expect the airlines to have. Spirit may have an easier time recovering because of their low cost structure but American/others could hurt them if they pursue low cost fares. In a vacuum I feel like Spirit would be a nice long term investment, in terms of risk. But if other major airlines just want to get bodies on planes in Q3, then I think Spirit will only be "Okay". The big airlines also have to deal with some setbacks in how they have managed their stock value. Too risky for me personally, long term, with solid blue chip stocks on the table at a discount.

Gold is tricky because it's an inverse performance stock that isn't doing what you'd expect. It's an intriguing look into the market overall.

That's why I went with Spirit specifically - at the time, it had sunk comparatively much further than any other airline stock, which makes sense because ALL airlines were slashing prices at the time. Spirit got wrecked because they were no longer the only bargain bin airline, but I imagine they'll rediscover their niche and rebound nicely when/if this all boils over.

XSPA is a super cheap one to watch out for. Was up 4% today and already up 5% after hours.

I was sure that as long as there is uncertainty, we wouldn't raise like more than 10% in the indices
But we did...and more

That sucks because I am still mostly out. Most of my money is still waiting on the fence. And I am still super afraid of using more of it

I dont know much about puts other than the horrors r/wallstreetbets has shown me. Id say no to any yolo investments in general.

Cruises are doing well so far today, aside from Carnival. Somewhat surprising since they all suspended operations.

Stocks like AMZA and VVUS went up by the hundreds today. Looking at their history, they seemed to never gain from the previous boom(s) and waited until today. How the hell do people get knowledge about these types of stocks, and how do we identify the ones waiting to boom next?

Man I was busy playing Skyrim! Also here's general advice: big things that aren't going away sinking like a rock due to bad news is a buy time.

Remember when MFA was at 35 cents? Yeah, it's dropping but still way above that marker for a reason. Anything that you can be confident isn't going to die (RCL is not going to die) getting really bad news and sinking like a rock is always a decent time to buy. Sure it might drop a bit lower but the rebound will always be nice.

Wow. I would think today is an overreaction to the court ruling which means big gains in the very near future. That, or bankruptcy.

Probably wont rebound until after hours trading, I reckon.

I put $10k into AYTU at $1.50. Sold it half hour later at $1.52. Made a quick $130. Shouldve held a bit longer but oh well.

Should have bought ERI yesterday :(
