My city has a positive Coronavirus test finally. Not particularly noteworthy since my city is a long narrow strip bordered by like 10 different cities so we already knew the virus was in the vicinity.

Does Disneyland plan to reopen on Apr 1st or is that just their current "until at least" date?

My business is closing stores in communities where they are required to, with the phrase either "the foreseeable future" if there's no date attached or "until april 3rd" or whatever if that's the current mandate from the govt. It will be reassesed at that time or a bit before to see if we need to extend the closure. It doesn't mean we are actually planning to reopen april 3rd.

Sounds like Russia intends to either start revealing real numbers or that they are admitting their testing was flawed and didn't have accurate results. Putin and the government admitted their infected numbers were likely way more than what they have confirmed so far.

They've been going with goal dates around 2-3 weeks most places.

PA essential shut down for 2 weeks. Schools shut down for 2 weeks.

They keep using the 2 to 3 weeks with a re-evaluation after a lot. Not a big deal.

Like Fauci said, Trump is trying to give hope and a goal to aspire to, but ultimately heeds to his recommendations and is flexible with his schedule to heed to it.

And, if he determines all guns ablaze, he has assessed that is what he feels is best in the long run. I don't Fauci would come to that conclusion so Trump would need to feel strongly that is the right course.

Also now that the Olympics are postponed there is all the sudden an outbreak in Japan. And Russia is now all the sudden saying they might have way more cases than reported.

All we need now is Iran to admit they have more cases than reported and all the suspect places can all be accounted for.

i get where jakyl is coming from. it would be more reassuring if trump had had a consistent vision on this pandemic so far. he went from "the flu is worse" to "EVERYBODY PANIC" to... "this is sort of a big deal but not that bad" i guess? all very suddenly.

i sure HOPE you're right about him lying because if he isn't lying and he really is going to open all the churches on easter no matter what, that's very probably going to have negative repercussions for my country as well. if that happens, i'm 99% sure my government is going to go "oh in america they're already opening the churches again see it's not that bad" and loosen up the rules here as well.

Now the talk about suicide is interesting, as suicide is already something that was happening a lot in the world before this pandemic even happened. There's no doubt this pandemic may lead some people to that. It's also possible people who would have committed suicide, now won't. It's kind of impossible to calculate.

What we really want to avoid is societal collapse. And if the healthcare system gets so overwhelmed that it can't function, that could be a tipping point.

Speaking as someone who has been shelter in place for a week and a half now, if we have to do this for more than the three weeks mentioned, people are going to start breaking shit. So many people are already stir crazy who have been taking this seriously, and the other people who were still bunching up at parks and beaches are going to be even more stir crazy when they're actually staying in.

I'm starting to get to the point where I'm getting tired of it too.

Suicide rates will go up, there's no question about it. A lot of the services people use are running in limited capacity with more people being in stressful/bleak situations
