The whole thing has been political gamesmanship from word one. Even the people pushing for impeachment in the first place had no realistic belief it would ever amount to anything, but that was never the actual goal.

Didn't this also happen during Clintons trial?

calling on the Senate to allow its television crews to document the trial, instead of the government-controlled cameras that as was the case during Bill Clintons trial 21 years ago will limit what viewers see and hear inside the Senate chamber.

Oh, yes, it was. I remembered correctly.

This isn't really that unusual, then.

The impeachment of a US president has reached the senate exactly three times, one of which happened nearly a century before the concept of televising the trial was even an option. This really hasn't happened enough times for there to be a "usual." A single instance of doing it one way (particularly when doing it that way can very rightly be criticized) isn't exactly strong precedent.

If it happened once before, then there is a precedent for it happening again.

Either way, it's not unusual, because it's happened before.

Now, if there was another impeachment, and they allowed the media in there, that would be unusual because it would be deviating from the norm.

Three? You're as bad at math as you are at rhetoric. At most, there are two separate arguments and that's only if you count the second amendment remark as an argument which it isn't. Otherwise, you forgot the quotation marks around "crime."

One of the biggest problems is the feedback loop with politics is totally wanked.
What Trump is doing to our political system and economy will take years to unfold, in some cases a generation. The average voter won't understand that their poor decision to elect Trump caused us the next financial collapse or the loss of a critical ally or many of the adversities we face in the future caused by his ineptitude.
In some cases its actually the opposite. If a DEM gets elected they no doubt will be left with a broken economy and America in turmoil and in extension will be blamed for the mess by the uneducated. This will cause the average voter to blame them for America's downfall even though it was Trump's to begin with.
No ones worried about the long term anymore. Our species deserves the way well end up going out soon.
