Is it?

I do not think water that is safe to drink would smell slightly like Clorox. Now I feel a bit foolish for tasting it. <<';

Anyway, is tap water safe to drink where you live? I must have these answers.

As far as I'm aware it is, though I still use a water filter for what I drink and cook with. It's not essential, but any improvement is an improvement.

Safe and good but I prefer drinking water from my refrigerator's water dispenser.

Oh, I remember staying at a relative's cabin when I went up to Michigan and their shower water smelled awful but I don't remember the sinks.

It's been years since I first drank tap water here in Travis County. But it didn't take long for me to be blown away by the quality of this locally distilled, sugar free, refreshing water. It's like living in a French countryside, in a palace on a lake with no outhouses and no pets. For the price of a few French meals at Bistro Galette, you can drink your morning coffee in a gazebo. Oh, and I drank a quart and a half in about 5 minutes, before passing out. And I'm not even trying to use this as an excuse to drink 7 more glasses. Seriously, this stuff is the definition of refreshing and I don't understand why I am the only one who cares

It's safe, as long as you're using city water. Ground water is no good for drinking - it's loaded with natural alkali and is being contaminated by nitrates from unknown sources.

This has nothing to do with socialism or politics at all, why would you just half ass a job like that in the first place? Either connect it to a clean water source/water treatment place or dont build it at all

It's extremely hard here, full of minerals like calcium and magnesium (which is partially a good thing but you can easily become sick trying to adapt to it). I wouldn't be too surprised if some harmful bacteria was also present. To be safe we use store bought water for drinking and cooking.

Sometimes, the tap is bad, though. My town has to cut off water often enough because of bad water. And on base, they sometimes send out reports to not drink water from anywhere on base. And when the water comes back on after being off for a little, it's a little discolored for little bit...

Here in Brazil it isn't.

The water is clean in the big cities, but they have too much chloride. Plus, even though the water IS treated, we can't be sure the pipes that carries the water all over the city are in good condition.

Hell, I once saw clean water gushing from a sidewalk because the root of a tree broke the pipe and clean water was wasted all around. But something else broke nearby: a sceptic tank. The dirty water ended up going in the general direction of the broken clean water pipe and, after that, nobody could be sure the water in their taps was indeed clean.

But anyway, we don't drink water from the tap here in Brazil anyway. Everyone I know either filter the water or buys mineral water.

It could be like what happened in Flint and there's toxins in the water

Sometimes it's lead, which can lead to cancers. But there's other problems

Not very uncommon, specially in third world countries.

Weird that you need to ask though. As far as I know, in MOST countries in the world the tap water isn't safe to drink.

I dunno if it is or isn't but I drink it sometimes. When I was a kid we had sand filtered well water. It was iron water. It would turn your whites orange and if you were blonde you would become a strawberry blonde. In the summer when you would sweat you would smell like an iron pipe. The dentist and doctors said the iron water was good for you though So I dunno. It had a definite taste.

Yep, I have done it for years. I started using a water filter again recently because it does have a bit of a funny aftertaste unfiltered, but for the most part the water is completely safe here.

But boy is it "hard", I have to soak all my facets in CLR 4 times a year so they don't clog up.

Perfectly fine here. We have several water treatment facilities in the area, massive river infrastructure, and even if you're in a smaller town an abundance of well water.
