And let's just say looking at their budgets and receptions after the fact I've got to say none of that matches up.
Captive State seemed to look the best budget wise, Chucky 2019 seemed like it was the smartest and should be the best recieved, and The Meg seemed like a cheap B movie. I'll break it down:
Captive State: 44 RT Box office: 8.8 million USD Budget: 25 million USD Chucky: 63 RT Box office: 44.9 million USD Budget: 10 million USD (2019) The Meg: 46 RT Box office: 530.2 million USD Budget: 130 million USD So like if there was justice I think: Chucky > Captive State > The Meg Definitely captive state doesn't look 1/5th the quality of the Meg, and Chucky definitely doesn't look 1/13th the quality of the Meg. --- "joe is attractive and quite the brilliant poster" - Seiichi Omori https://imgur.com/TheGsZ9 ... Oh god, The Meg was shit. Shit acting, shit effects, shit story. It was basically just a Syfy turd dolled up to a 100 million+ budget and cooked in a server farm in China, the same way The Great Wall was.
Chucky 2019 was a decent standalone romp. The original canon still exists with that upcoming TV show, and the concept was a neat spin. That movie had potential to be a massive pile of dogshit, but it was a decent enough watch. The only major downside I had was casting Aubrey Plaza as a single mother, because she still looks so young. Not even the handwave explanation was that satisfying.
