A death threat and a pug striking an offensive pose are vastly different.

One actually could kill people if it wasn't a joke and its pretty hard to convey sarcasm/joking in a twitter post without explicitly stating you are.

Yeah, I'm not gonna lose sleep over this clown. Labelling it a hate crime is a bit much, but he taught his girlfriend's dog an offensive gesture to be triggered when he said an offensive phrase. She has every right to be pissed off at him, and even to seek damages over this.

The dude who did this seems like scum. It's a shitty joke, enacted on someone else's pet without their knowledge or permission. Shit is rude as fuck, and if he didn't want to be in this much trouble, he shouldn't have explicitly trained his ex's dog to respond to Nazi terminology.

Teaching a dog to put up a paw when you say "sieg heil" as a joke to mess with your girlfriend victimizes nobody. No one is actually harmed by it.

The only victim in this story is the youtuber because of the state abusing him over a joke.

I mean, does she really have a right to damages? Aside from her husband, exactly how likely is it the dog is going to hear "Gas the Jews" on a regular basis.

Also, side story, in WWII a man taught his dog to do the Nazi salute to the phrase either "Heil Hitler" or "Seig Heil", I forget which and it doesn't matter. The Nazi authorities took it as mockery and were pissed. Obviously that isn't what happened here but when am I ever going to have occasion to mention this fact again?

He's gone on record stating that the only reason he's even in UKIP is because they were the only one he saw that had a position on Freedom of Speech he agreed with, because that is an issue he values a lot.
And also stated he'd be more than happy to take a different (even left leaning iirc) party if they had a decent free speech position.

Either way, the guy has stated he's not a Nazi, no one can point to any Nazi views he has as far as I've seen.
He, in the video, acknowledges them as a valid thing to make his dog emulate to piss off his gf, presumably because Nazis suck.
