Starting weight: 320 (sadly!)

Current weight: 263

Target weight: 200

.

I recognize that I still have a ways to go, but I'm very encouraged by my progress and I'm loving how I basically don't have any cravings or desires to cheat on the diet. That isn't too say that I don't miss the types of food that I'm not allowed to have, because I do, but it's been remarkably easy to just not partake of those things.

AMA I suppose.

Just running a standard 5/20/75. Carbs, Protein, Fat respectively.

Most days I'll have a protein for lunch. I try to cook a bunch of chicken at the beginning of the week so it might be 2 chicken thighs or something like that.

And then if I want something to eat before dinner it will be a protein/fat hybrid such as a cheese omelette.

And then dinner is usually a salad which I can adjust to correct the macros. Most of the daily carbs come from the tomatoes, mushrooms, cucumbers etc so I can have more or less depending on how many carbs I have left for the day. Similarly I pick dressings with almost no carbs so I can end the day with the right amount of fat by having more or less dressing.

I logged absolutely everything I are for the first 40-50 days and now I have a good general sense of how much I should eat. It might be a good idea to start logging again though, if only because being so much lighter means my "break even" caloric amount will have changed.

Barbeque sauce is a big one, I love ribs. Also Chinese and Japanese food. There is s local joint for each that my wife and I haven't been to in 3+ months now and we miss them. But everything would involve rice or noodles so they just can't work right now.

Nice work man! If you're this far I'm sure you'll reach your goal. Just don't settle because you're looking "good enough" cause it's harder to start losing weight again when you've stopped your momentum speaking from experience and depending on your body structure you may be completely fine with how you look and feel well before 200. Just go all the way through. Having a buffer in case your weight rebounds a bit is good anyway.

Thanks! It was not easy at first, but it's honestly true that once you get through the first hump or gets less and less difficult. It helps that I was particularly motivated to make a life change this time around. My wife and I have been having problems conceiving, outside of when she miscarried in January and I know that my weight was likely negatively affecting fertility. It breaks my heart every month when she comes out of the restroom in tears. So that is pretty unshakable motivation in and of itself. Also if we do have a kid I'd like to not die in my early 40s -_-

TBH I'm tentatively planning to take a break between Thanksgiving (11-28) and new year's day. I still plan to give myself a limit as far as daily calories, I just won't be hitting the low carb macros during that month. And then I'll get back on the keto wagon January 2nd. I'm confident that if I manage my caloric intake well enough I won't backslide during that time. I hope to even lose weight during that stretch even if it's not at the breakneck pace I've maintained so far.

Yeah a small break is probably fine. I just know I dropped from 250 to 210, felt alright about things and took a break for a few months, then I wanted to start again and had quite a wind up time and was back at 220 before it actually started again.

Currently 175 and have held that for months and feeling great though. As long as you make some reasonable effort to preserve your eating habits you shouldn't rebound. Holiday season is the most trying time so even if you do a bit don't get discouraged

I'll have to check those out. It looks like they still have a few carbs per serving, but they are carbs from fiber so people generally subtract those. Personally I've decided not to subtract them even if they supposedly shouldn't count against me. But those noodles have few enough that I could still pregnant budget them in. It's not entirely just noodles though, a lot of sauces in Asian cuisine can be sugary and carb heavy as well. I can probably find a viable recipe though, thanks

I imagine at 6'1" 200 would be alright could maybe try 190. Play it by ear. Big thing with me is I thought 210 was basically fine but I feel much better at 175 which is why I say don't settle. Lots of randos started giving me props at around 190 which was really encouraging. You started higher so you may already be getting those but you do plateau a bit in terms of perceived weight loss in the range you are approaching so it's easy to just stop there, but don't.

Not especially more expensive, no. A lot of my weekly groceries consists of one or two bags of romaine lettuce, a handful of tomatoes, a cucumber, mushrooms, cheese, salad dressing and some bone in chicken (either thighs or legs). I stick to mostly simple things like that and in general I eat less than I did before because I feel full after less food.

I try to walk during my break at work, but big thing right now has been playing beatsaber at least twice a week using my brothers Oculus Rift. I'm particularly good a rhythm games and have played a lot of DDR in the past. I have metal pads for DDR at home, but I haven't been doing DDR for this because at my starting weight the impact was putting too much stress on my knees and ankles. I hope to be able to play it again soon though.

Essentially it's all cardio though,. I'm not going to a gym or lifting weights or anything.

I suppose it might have something to do with the fact we have to buy for our kids too, we dont have them on a keto diet so it almost means we have to double shop.

I could see where that makes it more complicated. My wife isn't on the diet and so we get different things as well, we just try to make sure that we prepare food in portions that we will eat before anything goes bad.

Probably just over a mile on days where I only spend my two 15 minute breaks walking.

But then there are days like this past Saturday where we took a trip to s local coastal town and must have walked for 5+ miles over the course of hours of walking that day. I felt particularly good about that because I know I would have struggled with that amount of activity just a few short months ago.

I tried pork rinds and found them to be much too salty

I do like a spoonful of peanut butter every now and again, but most brands are full of sugar. I toucan reserve that as a treat for when I'm drenched in sweat from 1-2 hours of beatsaber. At least then I'm relatively certain that I'll still be in a caloric deficit.

Re: Beatsaber, I'm just about at the point where I can consistently clear songs on Expert+. There's a few that have eluded me, such as Rap God which I have like 90% cleared multiple times. But I cleared Toxicity and Chop Suey yesterday and there is a ton of asynchronous arm movement on both those songs that I was able to keep up with.

Of course there are some songs that aren't very difficult, but they are just fun to play, like Despacito or High Hopes.

That's a little (actually a lot) too quick a drop to be considered safe. You're checking in with a doctor regularly, right? I've lost a small amount more over much more time because my doc said I had to lose it, but not too fast. He said if I didn't lose 20lbs then in a year I'd get diabetes and I lost 50 in that time and I'm still dropping, so I get the desire. But you can do too much.

Most simple way to explain keto is you are severely limiting your carb intake so your body turns to your fat to burn for energy, as opposed to what the body naturally does which is burn carbs first and store fat for later use.

Is it unhealthy? Well, you're going severely under the daily recommended amount of carbs a healthy person should have each day, and you might be lacking in some other nutrients by restricting what you eat. Is it going to have long term effects on your health years down the road? Depends.

I take a multivitamin so the only thing my body lacks is carbs/glucose. As a result my blood sugar is basically flatlined. This would be very unhealthy if I was diabetic, which I am not. Having no spikes in blood sugar basically eliminates any cravings that would tempt me to cheat.

I still end up with more calories from fat than anything else. Salad dressing is the great equalizer. I can use very little or a ton depending on what I've eaten that day.

Sorta. Keto is not healthy. Ketosis puts a strain on your liver and can cause deficiencies if not supplementing with vitamins. If you do bloodwork while in Ketosis, you will likely have elevated indicators for liver damage.

It started with 320 weigh was depressing to even acknowledge, but now less than 4 months later I've put 260 lbs in my rear view mirror never to be seen again. And maybe not my day 120 weigh in, but probably on day 130 I can do the same to 250 lbs. It's a very liberating feeling.

I walk a least 30 minutes during work on breaks and lunch. And every two or three days I play beatsaber which has been excellent cardio. I plan to start playing DDR again soon because I love rhythm games, but my weight was making the impact on my knees and ankles pretty difficult. That was like 40-50 pounds ago though so I might be okay now.
