It's alot of work for one person, but the real reason I make less? Because I end up tired of whatever I make before I finally finish it all off.

I made a no barley-beef barley soup (Ran out of space so couldn't put the barely in) like 5 days ago, and it was quite good the first day, pretty good the second day reheated, but I still have half of it left, and am forcing myself to eat it today (really wanted chicken or pizza again (or both muahhaa).

Even the most yummy delicious food I make, I get tired of eating. I should freeze it I know, but I have always hated doing that (never tastes as good, and I end up just leaving it frozen till it's dinosauric and I through it out).

So now I tend to either BBQ something, or make a pasta sauce etc, and avoid all the dishes that take all day to make etc. Years of cooking skills are fading away.

Oh well.

You can make less! And then use the extra ingredients to make other things.

I guess, although like for a beef barely soup it seems kinda a waste to cook all day and make a small amount, but yeah, I could (and should have since I literally had no space to put the barely in it, and it became a beef and brocolli + bell peppers and onion soup lol).

It was still good, but the barely soaks up the broth and makes it more into a stew (and very yummy).

What I really need to do is find like a potluck club or something nearby, so I can make meals and share them with others, or perhaps have alternating days where we all make a meal for everyone etc. That would be awesome actually.

Get a rice cooker and lots of add ins. That's what I did. Granted you will eat a lot of rice, but with the different add ins, all the meals are different.

I do like rice, and it's pretty healthy, also goes along with chicken well.

What I really wanna get down is fried rice...which I have made/tried in the past, but it always sticks to the pan, and is a pain to clean up etc. I never could make it as good as chinese resteraunts for some reason.

I have even watched them make it at places like samurai's or benni hanas....but they use oil and some kinda magic and none of the rice sticks.

It always sticks to my pans when I cook it:(

I'm getting closer and closer to getting rid of beef all together, and just eating chicken, so I will need to expand my options a bit more, currently just use boil in the bag rice when I have it with chicken and it's not very satisfying.

I also use noodles, veggies (primarily brocolli), potatoes and to go with my chicken. I've been craving fried alot as well, but I can't make that myself at home.

I hope to be done with beef all together (except when it's added in a sauce if I eat out etc) by the end of the year.

Try making at least two meals per week, so you can alternate between them instead of having the same thing 6-8 nights in a row. You may have to shrink recipes a bit or freeze leftovers, but it breaks up the monotony.

After cooking for half the neighborhood, 4 days a week, I barely cook at home.

I do meal prep for the entire week and alternate when I dont want to eat the same thing two meals in a row. Even then, I just will myself to eat it. Sustenance over pleasure. Mind over matter.

That's better than making bunch that you're not going to eat. If you're already spending the time, time doesn't matter. But wasting money and ingredients isn't good.

This is one of the main reasons I don't like meal prep for the week. I'd rather just make what I can daily. Or for a couple days at a time. Which is why I gotta get the crock pot soon...

freeze leftovers

I think he really wants to avoid that. As he probably won't eat it if it goes in the freezer...

I couldn't do that. Haha. I eat to enjoy myself and my food.

I eat pretty much the same thing as its cheap, filling, and healthy than eating something different. I dont make a ton of money so this works for my budget. Ill treat myself sometimes, but I eat to live- not live to eat.

Im the other way. While I know its actually healthy to eat the same thing everyday, that would be boring. Why live to eat boring meals all the time. Which is why its eat to live, Im guessing. I dont think I fit either of those categories. But if I had to choose one, Id rather live to eat. I like unhealthy foods. Like pizza, cupcakes, and candy. Id rather eat those then eat the same boring meal everyday to live longer to eat boring foods some more...

Im pretty poor, too. Haha. Though, I still try to get certain foods that I like, rather than just stuff I need to live, I guess...

Yeah, I know this is kinda pathetic, but one of the few things I still have in my life that I enjoy is food, and I'm getting less and less out of that as well, but it's still very important to me.

Add in having to avoid carbs as much as possible (Diabetic) and now cutting out most beef (bad for the environment/cruel) and I'm willing to spend money and time to have a good meal.

But yeah, I tend to make mass quantaties (also I eat far less then I used to, I can't even really finish 3 slices of pizza now without getting full!!) because I cooked for 4 people forever (and 4 people might have left overs once, but one person with the same amount has left overs 7 times!!).

And yeah, I have to force myself to eat something that has been frozen (and rarely do). I like my food fresh, and will usually go out to eat if there isn't anything fresh at home.

What I really need to do is socialize and join a pot luck club or something, but I tried for a month or two after moving and just got frustrated. I actually tend to get along best with people in the 20-30's crowd, who enjoy video games, science fiction/fantasy, dungeons and dragons etc, but i'm about 50 and at least in this area most of those groups are not very interested in socializing with someone who could be their dad or even grandfather lol. I did end up chatting with a few other older people at meetups etc, but most of the people were younger and just interacted with each other.

I don't feel 50 mentally, in fact it's hard for me to believe I'm that old sometimes, just not hard for me to believe it after I go to a meetup at a bar.....when I do that....I really feel old lol (so I have not been doing that anymore).

I did join a DnD group at the library here a few weeks ago, but it was really.......really bad. The DM just made the "campaign" up as he went and the players mostly had no clue how to play etc (was the first time the group got together mind you, but was not worth a second time. I would have been willing to DM, but the next scheduled get together wasn't till Sept 28th and then that got canceled lol.

Oh well, I'm up fairly early (by noon...yeah!!), and can go get some popeyes chicken finally lol. I'll probably hit Winco which is right next to it and maybe make a roasted chicken tomorrow as well:) At least I can pretty much kill a chicken in 2-3 meals still:)

You could always use Facebook. Thats how my group met. Some also knew each other. And then we met at the place. Its a place that sold comics, cards, and TTRPG stuff. And that had tables in the front for trading card games, and rooms for groups to run TTRPG games...
