I liked the intro.

More games need to do that sort of thing so the context has more weight. It makes you feel like you actually started at square 0 as a lowly villager and slowly built up to hero status.

It legitimately gives me a headache to see people criticize this. TP was a masterpiece of atmosphere and progression.

P.S. who gives a shit about the empty open world, it's not an open world game

It'd be hard to go back to TP after playing BotW.

The feel of the game is actually quite good. Being able to slash whilst moving is cool.

Twilight princess had the best atmosphere out of any Zelda game, and honestly was more haunting and gloomy than Metroid and alot of other games i played... Also had the best dungeons.

I love the game.

It does have some flaws indeed. It tried too hard to be Ocarina of Time 2.0. It had a HUGE, poorly connected overworld, for some reason Zelda makers got obsessed with massive overworlds right aftr OoT.

That video is so depressing. Nintendo was pulling a Bioshock Infinite before the original Bioshock even existed lol.

It is PROFOUNDLY annoying that like 5% of that video even made it into the game. I remember watching that and the original reveal trailer a million times as a kid, imagination running wild, and then we got pretty much none of either trailer. It looks cooler than what we got, and I say that despite still liking TP a lot overall.

Overrated trash. Just like BotW.

There are some good temples
Temple of Time, arbiter grounds, death mountain
The combat was ok, but the special moves kinda stupid
Mainly was a reaction to the topical hate wind waker got
Also looks way better in Wii U version

If it wasn't set in the Zelda universe and was " generic adventure game x" it would be a straight up 6/10 mediocrity.

All Zelda games get automatic passes.

I mean look at Skyward Sword and BotW. Those games wouldve been 6-8/10 games at best if it didnt have Zeldas face in them.

TP is a giant love letter to OoT. When I first played TP (16 in 2006) I fucking loved it, and a lot of that love came from the references and callbacks to OoT.

But I will say the game isn't very fun on a replay. I've only played the game through twice, and the second run was a bit of a chore, especially before the Master Sword.

This dungeon is very overrated. you enter this cool looking desert area and you realize that the entire gimmick is the same as the forest temple in OoT. it gets better towards the end because you get a cool item that unfortunately won't get any use again until the last bit of the final dungeon in the game.

Nothing. It's absolutely the most boring 3D Zelda game since OoT. Everything about it is rehashed from OoT and the "real time" clock was far more an annoyance that it ever was at making the game a challenge.

The time crystal gimmick was fantastic.

Twilight Princess is definitely not an awful game, but yeah it was pretty underwhelming. I played it for the first time last year, it was my first LoZ game and I was wondering what all the fuss was about for this series. Great game but pretty flawed. The overworld is vast but mostly lifeless, the graphics and sound are lackluster even for a GameCube game, not many side quests and the ones it does have are tedious, nothing to spend all your Rupees on, a couple dungeons pretty much suck, almost no difficulty throughout, I could go on. The introduction wasn't as bad as people are saying but it did go on a little long.

I'm currently playing through Skyward Sword, almost at the end, but this game seems like a real chore to finish. I'm really not a fan of it...

Nah. BotW's dungeons are the best, there just aren't many of them. Hyrule Castle alone is the best dungeon in any Zelda game.

This is like playing the Final fantasy series for the first time and starting with FF2 and FF13.

You actually have a good point, I think I remember enjoying the slow start when I first played it. I've just replayed it so many times that I feel it's a chore to get through.

I wouldn't call it awful. It is, however, the most bland and sterile entry I've played in a series that I usually look to for some amount of creativity and soul.

Everything about Twilight Princess is just so boring. The gigantic open world with jack shit in it and no sidequests to fill the void as Wind Waker handled it, the incredibly cool looking items which you mostly use for a tiny amount within the dungeon you got them and then maybe once or twice afterwords, those terrible bug hunting segments that take up the first half of the game or so, the storyline which comes off like someone wrote an Ocarina of Time fanfic...

It's the only zelda mainline game I've never beaten more than once just because it absolutely cannot hold my attention, and the glacially slow start helps zero percent. I will admit though that I never played Skyward Sword so maybe it's somehow worse?
