I wasn't trying to suggest that it was only anti-progressives who take issues with Wanda's character arc in Phase 4, more just asking how contentious it is beyond people who politicize the issue needlessly. I've also come to realize Midnight's Edge is probably mostly concerned with the response from the hardcore comic book crowd which is most definitely NOT the main audience for the MCU. The outlet attributed the mixed fan reception to Phase 4 to them adapting newer and less popular source material compared to before which sounds like a gross generalization at best. I mean, Iron Man is supposedly a much different character in the comics than he is in the MCU (origin tied to Vietnam instead of the War on Terror and not as much of a snark machine for starters), so that's probably not even very true to begin with. And even otherwise, who's to say the MCU writers can't just take whatever aspects of the comics they like and adapt them?

Even as someone who isn't very keen on Phase 4 beyond No Way Home (and yes I understand a lot of what I said about it seemed pretty generalized, but again I'm not particularly invested in the character to begin with so a lot of the nostalgia beats didn't really hit with me, although at the same time I at least recognized the characters from non-MCU Spidey films), the MCU doesn't come off to me now as being any different than it did before. I'm detecting lots of genuine racism and sexism under the veneer of legitimate film criticism and I don't like it one bit.
