Minor upgrades and prizes for rewarding exploration, and encourage backtracking? Check. Upgrades for movement tech or to otherwise access places? Check. If you're a purist about the definition, then no. Especially if you heap on extra criteria like it needing to be a 2-D platforming sidescroller, or that there's some magical amount of map interconnectivity required.
