Nobody Saves the World (PC)
A frail amnesiac husk wakes up. Acquiring a magic wand of shapeshifting and a mortal enemy, they set out across a land threatened by Calamity to uh, do ARPG stuff. The plot is rather light and goofy by design, but it gets pretty damn close to being the plot of Zelda 1: go to the dungeons and get each piece of a thing. This is a common complaint, but it's carried by the gameplay loop. I was glued to this game for the last few days. So you have a skill tree of forms, ranging from Guard and Ranger to Rat, Horse and Mermaid. Each has its own mini-objectives needed to rank up, unlock new moves and abilities, and unlock other forms. And you can combine them like the Job System! There are plenty of sidequests, many performed at the behest of several colorful guilds, but they kind of only exist for XP and completion because that's what they give you. So you go in to explore, make creative builds, slaughter countless monsters, and see weird ideas. I'm going right into NG+.
