You can do a variety of 'casters don't suck if you don't cast only' early game since you can respec 3 times and then infinite times after you beat Hell Baal
Druid can grab poison creeper early on and then go melee, sorceress has bow early then enchant as you said, trapsin can go melee, boner just go zookeeper, auradin uh... just go auradin.
Think that's all unless you count singer barb in which case you're barbing wrong untill like level 60
