Willow (NES)

This is a game that not only had I never played before, back in the day I didn't know anyone who owned it. I actually quite like(d) the arcade game, which is quite different, so if any rental place carried it I'm sure I would have at least rented it. This action RPG really flew under the radar for me and many others, I'm sure. That said, it's an okay-ish game. The map is actually too big, especially in towns, with a lot of empty area to traverse to get around. The combat can also get annoying with some enemies (the magical ones) only being harmable by using a sword that the rest of the enemies just plain ignore (and vice versa). The bosses also take very little to figure out the optimal strategy to defeat them. It is, however, pretty responsive and feels really good to control and the challenge level is quite reasonable. Not an all time classic by any means, but a nice diversion if you want a second rate Zelda clone.
