Yesterday I tried out a variation of "5/3/1" called "8/5/3" basically exactly what it sounds like, slightly more volume but slightly lower weight for my squats. My squat rack max is 300 and I've exceeded the on the regular 5/3/1 so I think this is a good temporary solution until we move and I can get a new one. I might need to lower the weight even more. I couldn't get my top set, 250, for 8. I've even done 250 for 8 before but never after having done two sets of 8 prior. Even though the weight is lower, it's a huge difference. I couldn't finish my top set, my assistance squats or my accessory work. And my legs still feel destroyed. I think I may do 8/5/3 for everything next time I'm bulking --- Trying to dunk since July 2020 ... Copied to Clipboard! |
