To keep making money and because people want it for less than in the stores. In Illinois it's costing people $100 a gram after taxes. I asked my stoner friend what he pays and he said the same thing is $15 on the streets.

I'm against drug usage anyways, this is just something I was thinking about.
My only experiencing purchasing legal marijuana from a dispensary has been in California, where I purchased weed for significantly less than I would have paid on the east coast illegally. $100 is insanely high for a gram.

however I'd imagine that number will drop with time as production improves, I bet it's a supply & demand issue at this point. the positives to legal dispensaries simply blow purchasing from an illegal dealer out of the water, and it's not really like dealers make a ton of money from selling weed anyway (unless they are moving very serious weight). most people I knew just dealt so they could smoke for free or make a little side cash
