I will say the show takes on quite a... realistic approach to the romance, in the spoiler-free sense that people don't wait their entire lives for the MC to come into their lives to make a move on them, they have other interests going on. When the show revealed this kind of light, I had to go look up the author because there was no way some dude was going to write a shonen story where the main girl wasn't perfect for all intents and purposes. She was too realistic. Sure enough, the author was female, confirming my suspicions. Vegy, I'd imagine the show would be... to your tastes.
