California's liberal elite consistently vote for policies that make matters worse. It costs like $400 in annual registration fees for a car. It's like $3,000 a month to rent a crappy 2 bedroom condo. Gas is at $3.80 a gallon. These things make life very difficult for regular people and yet they keep voting against policies that might actually help people.

That would be the Republicans, actually. At least in SoCal.

Cant speak for NorCal but idk where this myth that SoCals housing crisis is from the liberals in the state. Its not, its the rich old white people who live in Del Mar, Cardiff, Carlsbad and such who routinely vote no one any and all proposals aimed at housing or transportation.

Californias inflated housing/rent can be traced back to the 1970s when they started experimenting with legislation that sought to make it affordable to everyone. Prior to policies in that manner that have only expanded, rent and house prices in California were comparable to the rest of the Untied States.

Correct. That hasnt been relevant in 20 years or so but that is correct.

Not sure how that has anything to do with what I said though.
