Kaede and Shuichi could have been made with swapped genders, for example. This thing with the Japanese where they are afraid of putting females in lead roles gets annoying some times. Westerners are way far ahead in that sense. i am not sure this is an all-japan thing but more a weeaboo thing. they don't think people who play DR are likely to relate to a girl as the MC i was bothered too but tbh can't blame them much there. even with kaede they had her commenting on boobs a lot. --- yet all sailors of all sorts are more or less capricious and unreliable - they live in the varying outer weather, and they inhale its fickleness ...
