sounds more like his health wasn't right and he couldn't take it anymore.
as someone who has been dealing with chronic debilitating back pain every day for a few years now, it's not unimaginable to me for someone to be of a completely sound and healthy mind and still want to end things because of physical pain that they just can't take anymore. i feel like sometimes people forget that and assume that every case of suicide must necessarily be a mental thing.
