So I've been thinking about future Jobs and what they could be, and here's what I think could happen. So throughout the ShB patch cycle, specifically the odd patches, we know they plant to raise BLU's level, so that in 5.5 it will be level 80. So I think either with that, or possibly in 5.4 they release another limited job. Either Beast Master or Puppet Master. BST could be either a melee that uses Maiming gear, or a tank, and it of course would have to go out and capture low level enemies and use them in attacks. Maybe even use them as pets, but I don't think there would be much variety between various monsters. Maybe there's just like a generic templates for each monster type, and different species in each type is basically just a palette swap. Or PUP could be either a magic user or a ranged, and it uses Minions as a weapon or a pet. And, again, it's mostly just aesthetics, and maybe they use the Verminion templates to determine what each minion could do. And with PUP they could possibly revamp Verminion, or add some cool rewards to it to get people to do it, possibly even unique weapons for their PUP. Alternatively they could add like really basic Pokemon-type battles with minions, kinda like WoW's pet battles I guess, but probably even simpler. But regardless of what it is, I'm fairly certain we're getting another limited job this expac.

Then, 6.0. People were mad that ShB didn't get a new healer, and they know that a new healer is what people want. So this could actually come as an alternate to a ShB limited job, like how they released NIN towards the end of ARR, but I doubt they would do that again. I could totally see Geomancer being a new healer, though what it would do, I'm not sure, but it seems the most popular pick for a new healer. Alternatively they could do Green Mage, or Necromancer. NEC would be my pick. I could totally see a system where it debuffs a boss, and attacking it leaches HP from the target to players. Or alternatively it could add like a vampire effect to players attacks as a buff to steal HP, or maybe fill up a buff gauge and turn into like a Balance equivalent or some other damage buff. So a healer comp would be WHM or SCH, and AST or NEC. And we know they want to add at least one DPS to every expac, cus DPS apparently sell expansions. (MCH is historically the least played class in the game, but sure, DPS sell expacs.) So I could see them add either a Scouting or Maiming class. Or another magic DPS. For Scouting or Maiming, Magitek Knight could be really cool I think. And we're most likely going to Garlemald next expac. So Magitek Knight would really fit that story beat I think. Maybe it's like the opposite of RDM where it's mostly a melee, and completing combos fills up a ceruleum resource gauge, and when it's filled it can do pseudo-magic attacks. And then for a new magic class, I would really like to see Spell Blade, or Runic Knight, whatever they want to call it. It would be more of a support, and it would cast spells on itself and party members to add magic damage buffs to attacks.

Then for 7.0, because at that point there will already be 19 full Jobs, and 2 or 3 limited Jobs, they'll only add one new Job, and it will be a DPS.I could totally see them either adding another melee, to round out the Maiming/Scouting/Striking sets so there are 2 jobs for each gear type. Or maybe they'll think "there are too many DoW classes, we need another mage to even things out." and we'll get yet another magic user. But what this Job could be I'm not sure. Or alternatively, what they'll do instead of adding a new Job, is they'll slowly rework the limited jobs and turn them into full jobs.

But yeah I could be completely off base on some of this, or all of this, but I really think at least some of this will happen. I think for sure the game is going to cap out at around 20 full Jobs.
