More than likely. I felt like I already had a feel for it before I tried it. But having not played an auto-battler myself, actually playing well isn't as easy as it looks when you're backseat gaming with a streamer. Some rounds are easy and others I dawdle too much and don't manage to complete my actions before the clock runs out.

Finished 8th, 6th, and then 1st today. The 1st was playing as Patchwerk. I used the same strategy I mentioned the other night, with two of the dude who buffs by +2 with every demon played, except I had 20 more health and eventually I picked up Mal'Ganis to negate the damage I was taking. Between two of them, two Amalgams, and the ability to dedicate my money to the one open slot on my board and just purchasing buff after buff, I was able to outmuscle the other people in the game. It helped that nobody had an especially good build with poisonous on board.
