Having multiple different organizations trying to influence you isnt even comparable to what China does. Every aspect of society is forced to cater to a specific ideology and any deviance from that will get you incarcerated. Yes, people are influenced by their environment because we live in a society. That has virtually no relationship to the 1984 situation in China. This kind of rhetoric is actually part of what the Chinese use to justify their own censorship. I've spoken to Chinese individuals who claim it's no different from how political correctness works in the West (with some even believing that racism or insults are a crime in the West). --- ...
