So yeah, Ultimate NES Remix isn't really what I thought it'd be -- as far as I can tell, it *doesn't* have a mode where you can randomly play challenges. Championship Mode just features the same 3 events each time: A coin challenge from SMB, a coin challenge from SMB3, and a challenge from Dr. Mario. It's kinda super-lame.

As for the normal challenges, the easy ones are so basic as to be flat-out insulting; I'd say that they exist mostly to introduce players to the mechanics of these games, but some barely even do that. And, to a certain extent, it feels that a good chunk of the content exists as a teaser so players will go out and buy the individual games themselves.

By contrast, the remix stage challenges are pretty fun... but there are only 25 of them in all and they're gated behind getting stars from the other challenges (and most of the content is gated in similar manner; there aren't that many games available from the start and, from the lack of empty spaces, I was kinda scared that I had somehow misread how many games were represented). Granted, there are some interesting normal challenges as well -- such as being asked to defeat bats with bombs while not taking damage in LoZ -- but they're kinda few and far between. That said... I think if an Ultimate SNES Remix existed, I'd probably buy it >_>

I haven't tried Speed Mario Bros yet. After playing one Remix stage were Mario runs by default and you can only control how he jumps, I was hoping that Speed Mario Bros would be like it... but apparently it's just a faster version of SMB1 (which was more or less my understanding)

At any rate, I think I've played Ultimate NES Remix like 2 or 3 hours total since it arrived, which is still a lot more than I've played other games (or, at least, other than ones named Pokemon Go) in the past two years or so.
