Like, it's solidly crafted for sure, the performances are top notch, but all in all I found the storyline and character motivations ultimately generic. Midsommar however doesn't have any of those problems. It takes everything you might expect from your typical vacation horror movie and does everything in its power to destroy those notions and makes you feel as uncomfortable as possible with practically every frame. In my view it's also like a subtly artistic take on the slasher genre actually, and does play around with a few of those tropes as well. --- I've decided to put my fears behind me.
