Saw the trailer for Birds of Prey today, which goes waaaaaaaaaay overboard with Harley and has kinda turned me off the film as a result... is what I'd be saying if I didn't realize that Mary Elizabeth Winstead was playing Huntress. (Black Mask also makes for an interesting villain choice.) I can understand the approach, since Harley is a proven commodity and most non-comic fans likely haven't even heard of anybody else in that movie (although Huntress was in JL/U... and has had some live-action TV appearances... and I guess Montoya had a major role in Batman T:AS and apparently was in Gotham).

And, in what's likely a controversial opinion, I think Superman T:AS was better than Batman T:AS, largely because it was more consistent in terms of quality and handled an overarching story much better. Batman T:AS had a number of great standout episodes, but a lot of its other episodes were duds, it had several revamps, and the show doesn't necessarily flow well one episode to the next.

Got to check out Brightburn. I like the homicidal take on young Superman it presented, even if the reasons for Brandon Breyer to snap in the first place wasn't all very clear or convincing. I also watched Dark Phoenix, which was pretty much garbage, as advertised (although the final fight scene had some cool parts).

I checked out Yesterday as well, which isn't so much as a good movie as a feel-good hit of dopamine for all things Beatles related. Finally, I saw Ad Astra in theaters. The "Apocalypse Now in Space" is apt, but was way more enjoyable. I also never liked Apocalypse much.

Brightburn has been on my radar since its first trailer, but I think it hasn't hit NFI or any other streaming service I use and I cbb to pay for it. Dark Phoenix intrigued me simply because the more recent X-Men movies have been surprisingly decent despite their goofy elements.
