It's no secret that I don't like the Oracle games. They're just very tedious and just not very fun to explore and navigate around the worlds. I've never completed either of them because of how just unfun they are. So about a year ago I started Ages and got further than I ever had before, to level 6. But then gave up again. So then the Link's Awakening remake came out, and while that game is built in the same engine(well the original at least), it's legitimately an amazing game, and I've completed the original multiple times. So after beating the remake I was like "I'll try the Oracles again since I'm itching for more 2D Zelda" So over the course of the last couple nights I did level 6, got to level 7, then beat level 7. I will say that I do enjoy the dungeons in this game, they're generally well built, with clever puzzles. Level 7 was like the water temple in OoT but in 2D, and it surprisingly worked really well once I puzzled it out. But all the questing to get from dungeon to dungeon I could do without. It's just TOO much padding. But, I am gonna try to complete this game, then do Seasons. I hear Seasons is more action oriented, so maybe the questing between dungeons won't just completely bring the flow of the game to a halt every half hour. But I am not going to do the third playthrough, no thanks. I already know the endgame twist, and it's not even remotely interesting enough to warrant playing through this game again.

So I guess my hot take here having only played about 3/4 of 1 game out of 2 games is, instead of making 2 mediocre Zelda games, Capcom should have instead just made 1 great Zelda game. Oh wait, they did that a few years later with Minish Cap. So if you're itching for some retro handheld Zelda action, play Link's Awakening or Minish Cap.
