Remember when the reverse image search in Google was actually very good?

Was it? I can't recall it once giving me the result I needed.

Man, fuck Google and its shitty interpretation of what I'm looking for.

I honestly find Google to be crap for nearly every possible use. It's pretty much completely unusable for everything other than reverse image look-ups for me.

As much as people make fun of Yahoo, I get better results for every single search I do there.

I left Yahoo because it wasn't giving me what I needed and I can't imagine going back to try it again. And some of my other preferred engines, like DuckDuckGo, have their own intrinsic issues (in DDG's case, the fact it doesn't save results -- its main selling point -- means that it can never build context for my search patterns, whereas Google or Yahoo would eventually get things right). That and I can't trust Yahoo after a decade of almost-annual massive data breaches.

Then there's stuff like Bing which basically just runs a Google search and pares down some of the results. As such, I imagine it's equally bad at understanding keyword context, plus... I don't have a lot of trust for Microsoft despite using the OS.

Google Lens and Translate via my phone camera is actually quite good. I've actually used Lens to accurately identify wildlife and plants on hikes and I've used Translate to translate instructions where in a Homer Simpsonesqe moment the English instructions were ruined.

I'm probably going to have to get both. I'm assuming they're free apps?
