[Probably would have gone better if he was literally singing about ice cream.]

Oof. I don't know what happened tonight, but this song has suffered one of the most extreme drops between initial & final placements in either topic. I think it fell over 40 ranks, which is crazy. Especially because I honestly don't know why.

The song is fine? His voice is a bit too high-pitched at times, I'm not crazy about the choice of metaphor, and the backing track is so close to Funkytown that it's distracting -but- all of that was true the first two times. For whatever reason, I just very actively don't want to listen to this tonight.

...I'm sorry? And will probably regret this by the time I post the rankings? But this is how I feel at the time I'm making the list and we're all kinda stuck with it.

[Later Edit: Well "Lawn Wake V" just fell further and harder than this song did, so that write-up isn't terribly relevant anymore.]

[Latest Edit: It's funny how past me felt 42 placements was worth drawing attention to.]

[Final Thoughts: I'm mildly unsettled by the monster having eyeball hands, but that didn't impact the score any--if a video was having a negative effect on the placement, I just substituted Spotify links to give songs their best chance. (Songs where the video had a positive effect were left unchanged).

I still haven't figured out why I dropped this so far down, though I seem content with the placement. Unlike Octogram, I wouldn't say I regret putting it here--I just don't know why.

...Well, not like 246th Place would have been a particularly impressive ranking either, so I'm probably overthinking it anyway.]

Name: Only Child
Origin: Tierra Whack

Nominator: mcflubbin (9/10)

[Oof, this is...no. No, thank you.]

Well this is the only song that never scored more than a 0 on any of the three listens, so that's something?

I know I shouldn't be this negative, but this track doesn't work for me on any level. The video is off-putting with the lamp never being in sync with the sounds, the lyrics are all over the place (it's silly; no wait, it's vulgar for the sake of vulgarity; no wait, it's an anti-Trump song for ONE LINE) that I don't even know what feeling the singer was going for, and those are just the complaints I'm comfortable bringing up.

I do appreciate the chance to listen to it, need to expand my musical horizons and what not, but...no?

[Final Thoughts: Yes, I could have tried to find a link to this song without a video, but I assure you the out of sync lamp is the least of the issues. Poor out of sync lamp is actually almost charming, in an ironic way--don't you just want to root for the little guy? "Come on, lamp! You can get the timing right this time! I believe in you, lamp!"

...Also not directly related to anything, but is having one line of spontaneous seriousness a tradition that I'm just not aware of or something? I'm reminded of last year's "Everything's Gonna Be Alright" (or whatever it was called) which started off simple and then went into Black Lives Matter for about one minute before dropping that line of thought entirely. Much like how this song goes into Trump for half a second and then drops it.]
