Going through rankings fairly quickly tonight. I'm hoping to stick with ten per day and, since I was so late getting the topic posted, I'm having to go quickly to make up lost time in order to stay on schedule.

Two more now, then two more a little later and I'm going on break for the night.

[Not my type of song, Im afraid.]

This is one of those songs where my opinion of it went down slightly each time I heard it. I've been on record as being rather consistently against video game OSTs that want to be all...epic orchestral type affairs. And while there are always exceptions, nothing I've heard from any Monster Hunter game has ever worked for me.

I started at "while this isn't my thing at all, I can appreciate that it's probably good for what it is", but after having to listen to it repeatedly... it started to lose what little good will I was offering it. This is probably too low, but I just want to hear something else right now. Sorry.

[Reminds me of an average anime intro.]

This song took a massive dive down the rankings after the final listen. I had it pegged at placing around 268th place, but it has dropped over twenty rankings to this placement. The song itself is generally okay, but in the more intense sections of the song, there's this...pulsating beat that gives me a tremendous headache. Like, "need to take a break" level of headache. And while this is far from being the only song with a loud, monotonous, thumping beat this is the first song where said beat actually caused pain.

[Final Thoughts: You can tell this was written before my decision to include the Beta Rankings, as it's redundant to point out its original placement twice. Also, as an early write-up, this was written well before songs started getting extreme changes in placement. Dropping 20 spaces is nothing this time around.

I stand by the write-up. While the initial, almost choir-like opening is fairly nice, the song starts to feel somewhat generic once the singing comes in. Then the beat drops and my head starts to hurt. There are breaks when the intensity mellows out a bit, but they don't really help--dreading the inevitability of the song kicking back into full force rather prevents me from even trying to enjoy the subdued parts.]
