When you first start talking to women out of nowhere you're going to be awkward and you're not going to know how to handle the situation. It's natural to come of a little creepy and uncomfortable, particularly if you don't have the self confidence to know when to back off. Yeah people need to have some empathy for this stuff. We've all been in these awkward situations, where you tell a joke that falls flat at a party, or you get rejected in public, or you follow a girl home from the bar and force yourself in her house until she maces you, or dedicate 10 years of your life to an online community focused on anti-social behavior and death threats towards women.
