"Ive never seen anything quite like this before. Its kind of like a Breakfast Club type of movie with a supernatural twist to it. Everything is very mysterious about it and it makes the viewer question everything they are watching. I was prepared for a lame it was all a dream ending. I was also prepared for Donnie dreaming about all of this from a psych ward bed. But I was not prepared for what we actually got. Wowwhat a ride. It was kind of a letdown after we saw what he life could have been, but it was also strangely acceptable because Donnie himself was at peace with it. The Mad World cover was perfectly timed at the end to really drive home the various emotions felt.

Oh and a brief soapbox moment, but I actually really liked the sequel, S. Darko, as well. I know that one gets a lot of hate, but it was done right. The actress that played Donnies little sister was brought back and it was just as wild of a ride as this movie was. I recommend giving it a chance if you havent already!

Traviss Opinion: I would really rather Travis not tell me to go suck a fuck. So uhhe skipped this one. " ~Stifled

"The story of an ordinary teenage boy who has his bedroom crushed by a jet engine and is haunted by the ghost of a furry convention attendee. Okay so maybe he isnt very ordinary after all.
So Donnie seems to be the centerpoint of a space-time anomaly that is causing all the strange happenings, but it isnt really explained very well. Or explained at all actually.
Indeed, too often it feels like the 'Lost' model of a writer snickering behind a curtain as he taunts the audience with mysteries that are never answered.
The director did eventually explain what the hell is going on much later, but seriously if a movie requires the reading of supplemental material just to understand the basic plot it is probably not the best film in the world." ~Karo

"I had no idea this was a sci-fi movie before I saw it being part of the list. This was a movie I found more interesting than how much I liked it. Im not a big fan of the edgy script but the movie does a great job of worldbuilding. I liked seeing all the different characters show up in the background, despite not exactly being the most important characters. I watched the directors cut and it felt too long. Maybe my opinion would have been different had I watched the theatrical version. The sci-fi elements are shown in an interesting way and I liked seeing it mess with Donnies already messed up mind. I can see the appeal of this movie even though Im not the biggest fan of it." ~JONA

"Its so human it ends up a creepy movie. We sit through this schizophrenic movie wondering how the protag is going to end up, if hes going to kill himself or what. And through it, I get sick of some of the subjects getting thrown around, all the teenage hormones and another movie that promotes underage drinking. The language bothered me after a while but died down and what was left was still the psychedelic mess of a protagonist seeing Frank. It has its interesting conversations, but things like the agnostic conversation is one Id rather have in a better movie. And really, the song at the end is especially fitting, but did we really need And I find it kind of funny as a line while were looking at his family crying?" ~Wickle
