I'm a firm believer in leaving people the fuck alone if they're not negatively impacting anyone. Holding someone captive because of an outfit is ridiculous, whether or not it's "lawful." It's absolutely no different than if I'd kidnap someone and lock them in my basement because they were wearing shorts and I prefer long pants. It's not as simple as you're making it out to be. Their lawmakers understandably consider this a slippery slope (which it is), so they are taking measures to stop that. The Muslim world does not welcome promiscuous women like the west does- it is extremely detrimental to our way of life. I still find it astounding that any man would want his wife/sister/mother to a brazen whore and think it's somehow OK, but whatever, that's your choice as a society.
