Mmm, gonna have to read the latter half of 4 again to really get a good read on things, but I think 'shooting' Genji in the dining room was either giving him a gun or revealing his complicity in hiding Sayo for so long, same with Kumasawa into Virgilia. Both she and Gohda ran to push the mystery murder to the kids, and I'm guessing part of the deal for all the adults to play along after the Kinzo is dead reveal was information about the bomb, and only if they found a true successor would Shannon turn it off.

More when I get home

As far as the killings, I'd need to see when/how Shannon died again and how it was described. I know Kanon was missing, but forgot the full status of Shannon's body. The proble....

o_O

My mind's reeling and I should really, really go back to Episode 4 to see if any of my ramblings pan out, but... maybe there's a nugget of truth? Who knows?

...What if... what if Shannon isn't Beatrice when Battler arrives at the mansion later? Though, that's later sliced by the Red Truth later I believe (only Kanon can be Kanon, no one could mistake Kinzo for someone else; unless there's a Beatrice related one,t hat may be a loophole), what if the Beatrice way up on the rooftop is a Kyrie full of despair after killing all her relatives and dealing with the fact that Rudolf had been hiding her kid's heritage all this time and that he was destined to inherit a bunch of money once Jessica and George failed the tests? The Asumu questions don't seem like something Sayo would focus on, and it would be a strong parallel for Ange's island return and dealing with Kyrie's crazy ass sister.

Of course, this is predicated on knowledge I haven't read or retained for over a year. And Sayo could easily have heard about it from her accomplice, Kyrie, or Rudolf confessed it at some point (leading to a killing game instead of 'fun' murder mystery), and using Battler's parentage against him is fitting for a soul whose parentage has wrecked her life since birth. Giving Battler a small taste of that confusion and soulbreak she went through after George and Jessica failed... that's Sayo, yeah. That's someone who would trigger a bomb if they couldn't understand her or get the gold for themselves.

I forget what I was going to talk about on my way home and instead rambled in circles. UMINEKO!

Also, I'm reading The Perfect Storm right now, and as things get closer to the storm, I'm reminded of the Umineko episodes. There are facts in the book and quotes from people who were there before they left or talked with them over the radio, but everything on the boat is speculation and 'they likely did' based on reasonable things the crew would be doing and why they went the route they took. It feels very, very much like an Umineko bottle story now, with presumptive discussion over what happened in the seacatbox.

Who knows? Maybe there's another "Perfect Storm" book out there with a similar but different version of events involving more magic and goats and witches and kraken.
