Number one clinical sign is bad breath but other signs might be a sore throat, ear ringing and difficulty swallowing. It could just be genetics too. I don't think "less than desirable" diet should give you terrible breath. Have your gums or anything been bleeding when you brush/floss? Could be a dental issue.
