An assertion which is wrong for any number of reasons. First, you've incorrectly assumed that either 100% or a representative sample has voted in the poll. Clearly the whole board hasn't voted and it's very likely not a representative sample. Second, it's a rather fuzzy morality both in terms of an utilitarian standard (ie, if somebody takes the money then uses it to save a hundred dogs) and on a more basic social standard (where a dog's life doesn't necessarily have more value than other animals, hence shelters putting down extras). Personally, I abstained entirely because I can rationalize the act on an intellectual level but I'm not sure how capable I'd be on an emotional level.
