this doesn't make sense to me as a response so you would need to clarify, they aren't directly related, there are just the noted privileges of being white and also the noted privilege of being attractive and light-skinned (for its closer proximity to whiteness) making it more likely to be pushed in the media than that of your also attractive but darker counterparts
but idrc to continue down that path without specifics since, outside of modeling and such, there are also larger tangential factors at work on the media's push that vary (say acting ability, music, etc)

but I also think all of the abrasive arguments over 'privilege' stem from a largely understandable but, in this case, silly resistance to labeling
I don't believe being told to recognize you are privileged is necessarily an attempt to brand you away from your individuality, or to get you to Harrison Bergeron limit yourself, or to say you are evil for it, or anything similarly sinister, but rather is just the label saying what it means, being told or seeing for yourself "I am not X so it is likely I never experience Y" and having the trends of that applied to groups/communities at large

and I am fairly vocal with my distaste for caricaturing and there are no doubt people who group the 'privileged' negatively or make assumptions prior to seeing the outliers and exceptions, but the fighting that stems from the appearance of this word are just overboard reactions in the opposite direction and an article like this seems harmless at its worst
