I don't find the combos too long to sit through. If anything, it gives me time to plan my next move, whether I'm on the giving or receiving end of the combo.
And the game has some infinites but as far as I know they don't really matter. They're too hard to do and the payoff isn't going to be very good due to damage scaling as you'll probably eventually drop it. You'd be better off learning an actual combo that you're much less likely to drop. I've never seen anyone in a tournament setting bother with an infinite.
