It is definitely unique. Most of the mecha anime I ever encountered featured just robots with pilots coordinating their actions and fighting. I've never heard of any mecha anime that featured robots that reached the size of entire GALAXIES and used galaxies smaller than itself as WEAPONS.
Amazing as f*** and definitely not something I've ever seen anywhere else. Certainly not in any other "Super Robot shows".
