It's a terrible adaptation, and Cuaron is largely to blame because he didn't care about the series at all-- he wanted to put Lilliputians in for fuck's sake. Very much agreed. They tended to do that digital color grading shit way too much for the later movies. Adaptations aren't all about just taking the book and using it like a screenplay. It's about taking the source material and making a good and entertaining movie about it.
