The only counter example I have is that NPH from How I Met Your Mother does not feel natural as Barney at all. I'm not a devout fan of the show; I've only seen a handful of episodes, and Barney always felt like a very shallow character compared to the others (and not shallow as in 'only cares about sex' but shallow as a character overall). Once I learned the actor was gay, it made way more sense, but I'm not sure if NPH is a bad actor or if he legitimately didn't get how to act straight. --- itt my post is the best ...
