Sure, it could, but a bullet isn't like a bomb, it's not blasting a big fuck off area every time you pull the trigger. I remember a case off an officer and a criminal getting in a gunfight on either side of a double bed and they both completely missed with reloads.

The chance is so painfully low of hitting someone by accident in the middle of the night that's it's not even worth considering.

Also, letting them break in first before you start shooting is guaranteeing you shoot your own house and extending the likelihood they'll have cover and increase the amount of shots fired.

And you can use the gun to protect yourself. But if they burst in and knock you over, they could take your weapon. Also, Id rather lose some stuff and still be alive rather than lose some stuff, and also lose my life.

They could just shoot you on the floor too. I'd rather risk the slim chance of getting killed by shooting first than letting them sack the place then have a slim chance of getting murdered in my house anyway.

Also, thats if this guy calls every night. It doesnt sound like he gets many late night visitors. Its also doesnt sound like he calls the cops all the time, either.

He doesn't call the police all the time because he has his gun ready to deal with threats, as he's demonstrated he's perfectly capable of doing.
