The kid may not specifically remember that specific trip but with each less trip the more of a stranger that grandparent is. By the time they're an adult and look back, they don't need to hold onto every single memory to have a relationship but they still need to have happened to form the relationship. And on the other side, the grandparent will remember.Yeah, that one missed out-of-state trip to grandma's house will really destroy the relationship forever.
